Every bit of this stitchery has been hand stitched. This is a copy of an early sampler that the young ladies would have done to show their needlework skills many years ago.
It is aged and rustic to give extra charecter and framed in a wooden frame.
The words are "when I was young and in my prime, here you may see how I spent my time."
Hand stitched signed, Elizabeth Hope 1837.
THere is also handstitched the alphabet in lower and upper case and numbers 1-10, along with a little stiched and coloured house and a border.
It will either hang or stand.
It measures approx 10" x 8"
